Yesterday our team visited »Staged« Design Award + Show in Dresden. »Staged« is the first cross-border exhibition of young, German and Czech design and is taking part at the interior fair Room + Style from 10th till 12th of January.

We were very curious about the exhibition and did not have any idea how the exhibition looked like. The only thing we knew was that »Staged« was a cross-border platform offering design students and young design professionals from the Czech Republic and Germany the possibility to present their work. With experience from the last Designblok we were a bit skeptical concerning the exhibited works, but at »Staged« we found some really great works and we were impressed by the theme of the exhibition which was “material world”.

We really like the idea of a cross-border platform (»Staged« is a cooperation between Messe Dresden, the design studio Paulsberg, the Faculty of Art and Design at J.E. Purkyne University in Usti nad Labem and Sächsisches Heimatwerk) with its program offering workshops and lectures. Furthermore, following the fair, the awarded works will also be presented at special presentations in various german and czech cities.

In our opinion, the first year of »Staged« is a good start for the further cross-border design cooperation which would deserve better premises in the future.

The talented czech designer Jan Čapek had a lecture at »Staged« yesterday evening.
