Spring is almost at our doors with the clocks going forward, its time to wake up to the light, scream, shout and let it all out. However, if you are still feeling the grey and not quite ready to dress in the full colour spectrum we have something to propel you into the mood. From April, IKEA is launching their eye-catching collection of tableware and home textiles, titled: GILTIG. The collection is a wake up call to all the vibrant colours of spring around us, inspiriting good mood and fun at play.
GILTIG is the result of a unique collaboration with London-based menswear designer Katie Eary and is guaranteed to turn up the volume at any party. As a menswear designer she is always pushing the boundaries – exploring new ways of looking at men’s wear using unique patterns and colour mixes – all made possible through digital printing. And now with IKEA she is moving her colourful craziness into our homes.
“A good home is not about having lots of flashy things, it’s about having things that complement your personality. That way, when you walk into a home, it’s like you’re walking into that person’s brain.”
If it’s fabulous enough, a single item can change a whole room (and become your most Instagrammed party piece ever!). With that in mind IKEA and Katie Eary set out to apply her gob smacking patterns to home furnishing: “I want to turn everything upside down and leave you with a feeling of love or hate. That’s the feeling I want to emulate in my work.”
“A decade or so ago, you could get an idea about who a person is from their CDs or books. Now it seems that, as far as the home goes, furniture and personal bits and pieces are the last things left that show your true identity,” says the designer.
So why waste time in the grey when with this collection your can turn up the volume in your home, with an invitation from GILTIG to live louder!
