We have come to expect the unexpected every time we are preparing for our next Nike workshop, and this was no exception. Unless you have been living in a cave for the last 30 years, there is no possible way that you could not have heard of Yoga, especially if that cave was close to an ashram in India! For all us Western dwellers, we have become familiar with hearing the benefits of practicing Yoga not only in its physical attributes but also in its spiritual and calming sense too. There are so many different teachings of Yoga, from Ashtanga to Bikram, that we had no idea what was in store for us. We spent along time talking with Petra our Nike Yoga trainer about the principles of Yoga, including balance and strength. Her emphasis was on perfecting the position and allowing the body to be balanced and active. Taking your time to find the right position, while shifting you body weight and using your strength. Her philosophy was very gentle emphasizing the importance of breathing. It was refreshing to learn that if you are over active, sweating or shaking too much, you should reposition and take it slower, that the art of Yoga is to be balanced and find harmony in your body, mind and spirit. For us as a team this was a welcome respite, time to breath, get in touch with our inner self, find focus and move our body to improve our flexibility and agility.  It was a perfect breath of fresh air to calm us and give us momentum to continue our day. It's good to know that by slowing down and taking a deep breath you find yourself in a place far more still yet productive.
