Prague City Hall Has a New Bistro by Edit! Architects
THE NEW CITY HALL IN PRAGUE, BUILT IN 1908, HIDES A NEWLY RECONSTRUCTED BISTRO, WHICH OPENED BY THE END OF FEBRUARY . THE RENOVATION, DONE BY THE edit! ARCHITECTS STUDIO, PUT AN EMPHASIS ON THE ORIGINAL FEATURES OF THE BUILDING, WHILE MAKING THE BISTRO ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE.
edits! designed the aesthetics of numerous Prague places, including the popular Cobra bar or the Místo café. Now, the studio finished a project that offers more than a beautiful surface: the bistro employs physically handicapped people in order to naturally engage them in work and social life.
The furnishing includes classic TON chairs and sticks to a natural color palette, including materials like terazzo, marble and oak wood. The ceramic mosaic works as a subtle accent, which sets the interior in its historical context.
It was the crafts and complexity that edits! strived to accentuate. "Interior of the new bistro is designed as a light, clean and open space, which respects the context of an important historical building," explains Vítězslav Danda, one of the studio's founders. A profound analysis of the building belongs to the signature methods of the studio, just as looking for effective, often untraditional solutions. You can see their architectonic creations in many places in Prague and Berlin; Bistro Nová Radnice might however be a pleasant first stop.
